Knives Out Review

Knives Out (2019)
Directed by Rian Johnson
Rating: 9/10

Not usually one for murder mysteries, I actually found myself completely wrapped up in Knives Out. The film’s whimsical tone paired with such a heavy plot is extraordinary. I fell in love with each of the characters and the unique qualities they possess — Marta being my absolute favorite. Her pure innocence, written clearly across her face, almost gave away the entire ending (just kidding).

Daniel Craig absolutely annihilated his performance as Detective Benoit Blanc. I’ve never seen an Englishman pull off a Southern accent so convincingly. I didn’t expect the ending — and neither did the four other people watching it with me.

The film is also visually stunning. The color contrasts, camera angles, layout of the house, and intricate details in the set design all come together beautifully. From casting to cinematography, it’s an impeccably crafted film that I would (and will) 100% watch again.

Bonus points, of course, for Chris Evans.
